Portman Horse Trials
In the grounds of the Larmer Tree Gardens near Shaftesbury. Show jumping and dressage, this is a very popular event with competitors and horse lovers from far and wide.
Friday - Sunday, May 4th - 6th
If you're at all interested in what's been going on during the last 200 million years, then the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival is for you. In addition to fossil-hunting walks, there'll be scientists on hand to tell you about the past and the future, a fossil fair, the dinosaur runway, street theatre and so much else.

The themes of the Salisbury Arts Festival for 2012 are yet to be confirmed but will take place across the region, e.g. Salisbury Cathedral, Old Wardour Castle and Stonehenge.

The Torch comes to Shaftesbury (time to be confirmed). A wonderful opportunity to get into the Olympic spirit by watching the runners with the torch pass through in this delightful country town near Plumber Manor of North Dorset.

Watch the thrilling Olympic sailing events in Weymouth Bay. There'll be ten events, each event comprising a series of races for dinghies, keelboats and windsurfers. Stay with us at Plumber Manor and pop down to Weymouth for an Olympics thrill.

A fun day out for all ages. The Gillingham and Shaftesbury is one of Dorset's premier shows, featuring all the elements of a traditional agricultural show as well horticultural marquees, art and cake competitions, show jumping and dog events.

One of the finest country fairs in all England. If you’re in Dorset during this period, a visit to the steam fair is a must…it’s also worth travelling a distance. The kids love it.
