Thomas Hardy Dorset Winter Break - Midweek

Escape to the depths of the beautiful Dorset countryside, to the heart of Thomas Hardy's ‘vale of little dairies', just for a couple of days, and let your anxieties and stress ebb away. The Crown at nearby Marnhull is the Pure Drop Inn in the tv adaptation of Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbevilles. This is a real country house where you can immerse yourself in the ways of English country lore and where national headlines seem of little importance.

Conveniently located near Sherborne, Shaftesbury, Dorchester, Beaminster and Cerne Abbas, home of the famous giant, now newly refurbished. Lulworth, Studland and the Jurassic Coast are lovely days out from the hotel. There’s plenty of glorious walking so bring your dog…and there’s also the renowned hospitality of the Prideaux Brunes.

The Dorset Winter Break is for two nights and is nothing more than a very good reason to spend a little time in one of the most beautiful counties in the country, in Thomas Hardy country, in a superb country house hotel, that has been in the same family since it was built in the 17th century.

It’s also an opportunity to enjoy some excellent food. The Prideaux Brune family has been entertaining guests at Plumber Manor for over 400 years! Hardly surprising, therefore, that the manor is now home to one of the most popular country house restaurants in Dorset.

“Our guests are our friends and I cook for my friends” is Brian Prideaux-Brune’s philosophy, much appreciated by residents and local diners alike.

Arrive in time for one of Richard Prideaux Brune’s infamous cocktails that he’ll mix for you specially, or if you’d prefer, a half bottle of Champagne.

From only £215.00 per room.

Based on two people sharing a double room, Sunday – Thursday, subject to availability, including accommodation for two nights, a cocktail each or a half bottle of Champagne, a full Plumber Manor breakfast both mornings and VAT.
