Plumber Manor is one of the most dog friendly hotels in Dorset and the South West. Our pet friendly policy that dogs are always welcome is because there is always at least one lovely resident black Labrador. We have four ‘dog friendly’ bedrooms with direct access to the gardens and easy access to the car park, so it’s easy to take your dog out for a quick walk whenever necessary.
Talking of walking, dogs love it here. Their excitement when they’re preparing for a long country walk is always in sharp contrast to their return, often completely exhausted!

Plumber Manor defines ‘Dorset country hotels’; a country house that’s also a hotel, owned and managed by true country people. Plumber was a family home when Thomas Hardy was living in nearby Sturminster Newton. Plumber was built by Charles Brune in the early 17th century and has remained a family home of the Prideaux-Brunes ever since.
The hotel is very much run as a family affair; Richard is front of house and the ultimate host, alongside his wife Alison and brother Brian, who accompanied by Head Chef Louis, know exactly how to look after you. The family team will make you feel at home with their genuine hospitality.
